Salute! is all about community engagement and participation. We welcome everyone who wants to take part in one or all of our workshops, be part of performance, meet new people, explore the past of their ancestors, and share their family stories from WWI.
"One lives in the hope of becoming a memory”
We are looking for people who would like to share their families' stories they have heard from their parents or grandparents that are related to WWI. We are working with students from Kelvin College sound department who will record those stories and create a podcast- collection of precious memories. Get in touch if you would like to be part of this!

Peacebuilding Exhibition
We are looking for local visual artists whether professional and amateur who are interested in preparing a piece of artwork that responds to either the event of Signing the Treaty of Versaille or a theme peacebuilding (in whatever interpretation that can be). All styles and techniques welcomed. Pieces need to be submitted by June 20th. They will then be displayed during the Salute! event on June 28th and on this website. All artworks will be returned to artists after the event! If you draw, paint, sketch, sculpt and fancy being part of the celebration of local heritage, do get in touch!
We welcome local art groups, local schools as well as individuals.

The workshops |
Throughout May and June we will be running workshops in East End area of Glasgow. Some of them are one off and some will run for four weeks and will form part of the Salute performance event featuring professional production of a new play Etta's War.
All workshop will explore various elements of life during World War I period. We will investigate what life was like then. What music people were listening to, what songs they sang, what clothes they wore, what they wrote to each other, and what women were doing when all men went to fight. Our enthusiastic workshop leaders will take you on a journey into the past of our ancestors and will guide you to learn and reflect on how different or similar life was then to now.
All workshops are free to attend, although some need booking as places are limited. We welcome people of all ages. See each workshop for more details.
